Weapons Defensive Modules

Course – Tactical Knife Defense

FI Knife Fighting Defense techniques emphasize a precise style of close-quarter-combat (CQC) designed to exceed simple defensive combat capabilities. FI Tactical Knife Defense instructors provide decades of combined experience in a variety of styles and combat philosophies.

All instruction is engineered to naturalize peak physiological responses to the scientifically proven, gross motor-skill performance reduction encountered during the body’s physiological ‘stress-response and capability’ period (fight or flight). Our techniques are based on the instinctive and physiological laws that govern lethal close-quarter combat, and increase muscle memory and instinctive reaction recall.

Students gradually flow from basic survival instinct control to integrated weapons handling and dynamic attack sequences. FI combines drill systems that condition the U.S. military, domestic law-enforcement agencies and professional martial artists the world over to instill our students with direct-action response and proactive action sequences in real time scenarios. The best way to ensure survival and success when confronted with one or more aggressors is through Repetitive Training Exercises with specific edged-weaponry.

Course – Handgun & Long Gun Defense

Many people confuse being armed with being prepared. Don’t make the same mistake. This course, which was initially designed for military personnel and law enforcement agencies, has been overwhelmingly audited by private citizens seeking to improve their marksmanship and defensive handgun and long-gun skills to meet the challenges of an increasingly armed population and the rising tide of armed violence. With the advent of soaring domestic firearm sales it is no longer realistic to assume that you are the only person in a confrontation that is carrying a firearm. FI instructors have developed an “A to Z guide” for dealing with an armed aggressor broken down into our Three Tiered Tactics ™ program.

  • Tier One: employs mitigation techniques for defusing a situation before it occurs. Law enforcement officials and police departments across the nation are trained to avert altercations with potential assailants to reduce unnecessary fatalities and improve community relations. FI instructors use professional training methods in our Gun Defense Programs enhanced by years of practical experience in the field. We take you through the process of averting potential conflicts with widely recognized and proven verbal mitigation tactics to attempt conflict resolution. In high stress situations individuals with less training and experience tend to err on the side of action which may seem perfectly defensible during the crisis, only to discover later that it constitutes negligence, assault, or even homicide. It’s important to know your rights and understand the legal precedents for using a firearm in a crisis. At the same time, hesitation can mean not acting in a situation that would allow legitimate defensible action. For civilian students, Tier One training instructs the client on the legality of discharging a weapon, the culpability of doing so in an unlawful manner, and the correct procedure for dealing with law enforcement afterward. For the professional law enforcement student Tier One training emphasizes mitigation and preventative action procedures and protocols set forth by P.O.S.T.
  • Tier Two: training recognizes that there are crises that will evolve despite your best efforts to avert them. Using real-time drills and scenarios developed by licensed and insured FI instructors, the client learns how to recognize and interpret the signs of a crisis situation. Physical signals and behavioral indicators can reveal volumes of information about a suspect or insurgent if you are trained to look for them, and recognize them. This knowledge can prevent unnecessary preemptive action or establish a precedent for lethal action in the face of a legitimate, legally amenable threat. No one wants to be responsible for inadvertently taking a situation too far, morally or legally. Advanced training can significantly reduce unlawful preemptive action and reduce hesitation in the face of imminent threat or imminent unlawful action when necessary.
  • Tier Three: Once a client has been trained to make an educated determination of the situation and decided on a course of action, FI training emphasizes various means of gaining the upper-hand with methodological confusion of the adversary, agenda subversion, and preemptive strike tactics. Clients are trained to assess the immediate environment, or, “playing field” to ascertain the most advantageous method of engagement. Understanding whether to draw an opponent into a closed-quarter combat situation, utilize environmental obstructions, or to strike and retreat can mean the difference between life and death. If both parties in a confrontation have a firearm, the one with additional training will prevail in 95 percent of the cases. Many people confuse being armed with being prepared. Don’t make the same mistake. If you carry a firearm we can teach you how to use it with professional effectiveness, but first we’ll teach you when to use it.
  • Long Gun Defense: Principles of long gun defense are similar to those utilized in handgun defense, but have evolved in military applications where assault rifles are geographically prevalent. An example would be the Krav Maga techniques used in the Israeli Military Intelligence training (Mossad). The contiguous border of Palestine and Israel’s West Bank has resulted in a persistent-conflict situation that favors the assault rifle and subsequently emphasizes close-quarter combat techniques involving edged weapons, handguns, and highly-evolved long gun “defend and disable” techniques. Essential to our client’s capability in firearm defense strategy is the experience they gain though our hypothetical situation drills. Then there are the drills, and then, more drills. Our combat training motto at FI is : “Repetitive action creates proficiency”, or, “Practice, practice, practice.”
